5.1
Emergency stop
Emergency stop in

Emergency stop refers to an emergency operation that is intended to stop a dangerous pro-
cess or movement.
The emergency stop function is triggered by a single operator operation. This function must
be available and operational at all times in accordance with EN ISO 13850. In this case, the
operating mode is not taken into consideration.

The emergency stop function should not be used as a substitute for protective measures or
other safety functions, but should be designed as a complementary protective measure. The
emergency stop function must not adversely affect the effectiveness of safety equipment or
equipment with other safety functions.
Furthermore, it must be designed so that when faced with the decision to activate the emer-
gency stop control actuator, the operator does not have to consider the resulting effects.
