13. Commissioning
Warning
13.1.
DANGER
Life-threatening danger due to electric shock
The following instructions must be observed before any work on the device:
-
Allow 5 minutes for electrical components to fully de-energize. The device may only be
opened thereafter.
- All work on the equipment may only be carried out by authorized technical personnel.
CAUTION
Risk of injury from sharp edges and hot components
- It is recommended that gloves be worn during any installation, mounting
and service work.
Notes
13.2.
Before repair, the supply voltage on the type plate is to be checked. The wrong operational voltage can lead to
damage or destruction of the equipment.
The device may only be operated in an undamaged and operationally safe condition within the specific data.
The detectability of the warning signal must be verified in all expected ambient lighting conditions and locations.
The maximum and minimum load values for the fault signaling contacts must be observed and derived from the
technical specifications. Voltage and supply governing measures can ensure that the chances of downtimes are
limited.
The system has separate operating voltage connections for the activation and power supply to the lights and the
monitoring circuit. The fault reporting output comprises a fault indicator relay and positively driven contacts. The
two fault signaling contacts (1 x NO, 1 x NC) must be monitored and evaluated independently of one another by
a higher-level unit.
The DIP switch comprises 8 switches that determine the operating behavior of the light. The coding of those
switches is only read when the lights start up. Changes to the switch settings during operation are ignored until
the next time the light is switched on.
Note on the activation and use of the automated night switchover function (DIP switch 7 = OFF):
•
When operating in flashing or blinking mode, the current ambient light is taken into account and the in-
tensity of the warning light is adjusted on an ongoing basis.
In the rotating light mode, the ambient light is determined at the time of switch-on and the level of light
emitted remains stable for the duration of the duty cycle.
•
Snow on the lens can cause nighttime levels of brightness even when the lamp is devoting full power to
the LEDs.
Notes for switching off sectors (DIP switches 1 to 4):
•
The lighting array is divided into 4 sectors (see Illustration 2 - Sector distribution for
light emission
).
Each sector can be deactivated individually. No more than 2 sectors may be switched off at once, how-
ever. The device will ignore any configuration contrary to this rule and will instead activate all sectors.
This ensures that at least two sectors are always active, regardless of how the switches are set.
The correct function of the warning light is to be checked when newly commissioned, recommissioned and after
every repair. The safety function for the complete system in particular is to be validated. The function test as
described in chapter 7.2 is also to be carried out.
The closure for the housing must be secured using locking screws after commissioning.
