10. EMERGENCY RECOVERY PROCEDURE
10.1. Stowing of Equipment
All equipment must be stowed prior to recovery. The vehicle must not be
propelled or towed at more than 5 mph.
•
The Permaquip Kubota has towing points on the front and rear which can be
utilised to facilitate emergency recovery.
•
The braking system on the Kubota applies through the road wheels not the rail
wheels. The Kubota must be put into neutral prior to towing.
•
The Permaquip Kubota should be towed / propelled to a suitable off-tracking
point such as a level crossing. Otherwise use the wire rope sling.
•
Move the vehicle off the track to a position of safety.
10.2. Rail Gear Failure
In the event of the Rail Gear being unable to be stowed it will be
necessary to off-track with the Rail Gear in the lowered position.
Therefore, care must be taken not to damage the infrastructure.
Once off-tracked and in a position of safety it will be necessary to
remove the Rail Gear or rectify the fault. Under no circumstances should
the vehicle be driven off-track with any Rail Gear lowered.
•
The functioning Rail Gear should be raised into the stowed position as
described in the
sections ‘Raising the Rail Gear’.
In the event of the hydraulic supply failing. Follow the instructions for raising
the rail gear but set the hydraulic lever to the float position. The rail gear can
then be manually lifted into position. This is assuming there is still electrical
supply which is switched on. The red and green indication lights will not work.
•
In the event that the electrical supply is also dead the rail gear switch can be
ignored. Repeat as per above with the following additions, the tub will need to
be raised to gain access to the hydraulic diverter valve. The manual override
can be used to position the valve open in the required direction allowing the
rail gear to be lifted when the hydraulic lever is set to float.
