Getting started
4.1
Power supply
The PCE-CT 100 can be operated using 2 x round cell (AA) 1.5 V alkaline batteries or alternatively
2 rechargeable batteries (AA) 1.2 V. The type of power supply must be set in the menu item
Options/Power supply (
11.5).
Flat batteries are indicated by a red or empty battery icon. Remove used up batteries immediately.
When inserting new batteries, pay attention to the correct polarity. Wrongly inserted batteries may
cause destruction of the gauge.
In order to avoid any possible loss of data, mind the following when exchanging batteries:
a) Always switch off the gauge by means of the ON/OFF key before replacing batteries.
b) Exchange the batteries within 20 seconds.
After inserting the batteries and switching on the device for the first time by means of the On/off
key, the display shows
-

Confirm with “OK” or use the arrow keys to select a different language and confirm with “OK”. The
display will show
- the suggested

and

Confirm with “OK” or use the arrow keys to change and confirm with “OK”. Pay attention to the
instructions on the display.
Normally, Auto Power Off mode is activated. It switches off automatically 90 seconds after the last
measurement or operation. For permanent operation mode, see chapter
11.1 Selecting the switch-
off modes.
4.2
Start-up
Connect the probe by aiming the probe plug at the keypad, making sure the red spot faces
upwards, and then inserting it into the socket at the bottom of the device. The PCE-CT 100
automatically recognises the connected probe and sets the specific probe parameters, e. g.
measurement range, resolution, measurement method. To disconnect the probe, pull the plug,
holding the grooved tube.
4.3
Menu structure
There are 6 main menu items:
Calibration, Statistics, Measuring mode, Data memory,
Transfer to PC
and
Options.
All other menu items or functions are subordinate to these 6 menu
items.
The operation is carried out by means of the two arrow keys, the OK key and the Escape key. The
steps to be carried out are displayed on the screen, e. g. “Place probe on foil standard“. After
pressing the OK key, the confirmation is displayed, e. g. „Calibration has been set“.
