Auto Power Off
To save battery power consumption, the device has an Auto Power Off function. After 3 minutes without taking
measurements and pressing any keys, the device will power off automatically.

Battery replacement
When the battery icon appears in the display, the batteries should be replaced. Remove the battery compartment
cover and take out the batteries. Replace them by new batteries and observe correct polarity.

Calibration
If the hardness tester has been in use for a longer period of time and has been used mostly to measure relatively
hard materials, the impact ball tip might be worn, which can have a negative effect on the accuracy. In this case, a
re-calibration is recommended. A re-calibration is carried out as follows:
Press and hold the On/Off / Menu key for 8 seconds to enter calibration mode (CAL).
Take a measurement of the standard test block.
Adjust the measurement value in the display to the standard value by means of the Readout / Up key and the
Delete / Down key.
Take further measurements until the readings are accurate again.
To return to measurement mode, press the On/Off / Menu key.
If the accuracy is within the range stated in the specifications, no calibratiion should be carried out.

Maintenance
After 1000 to 2000 applications of the impact device, the guide tube and the impact body should be cleaned with
the nylon brush. First, unscrew the support ring, then take out the impact body, move the nylon brush through the
guide tube counterclockwise, making helical movements until you reach the bottom. Repeat this procedure four
times. Re-install the impact body and the support ring.
The impact body should always be taken out after use.
Do not use any lubricants inside the impact device.
If the values indicated after repeated tests with a standard hardness test block are still higher than the actual
hardness value, this is very likely due to wear of the impact body. In this case, the impact body should be replaced.
