Setting up for earth monitoring
The earth monitoring feature works by comparing the
voltage of the energiser's earth system with that of a
separate earth stake. Ensure the separate earth stake is
at least 10 m (33') away from any other earth system
including the energiser's main earth system. Drive one
1 m earth stake into the ground. Use high-voltage, insu-
lated cable to connect the Fence earth monitor terminal
with the separate earth stake. Ensure good contact and
that all connections are made using screws.
Monitoring the earth
If the first Indicator light is illuminated permanently, this indicates that the earth voltage is over
0.8 kV and that better earthing may be beneficial. To improve the earth add more or longer
earth stakes. The small digits on the LCD display show the voltage going to the earth system
when the selector switch is set to
,
,
, or
. The earth voltage should remain
below 0.8 kV at all times. If the earth monitor voltage is above 3.0 kV the numbers in the
display flash 3.0 kV to indicate that the earth is insufficient.
Battery Test setting
When the energiser is connected to a battery and the
selector switch is set to "Battery Test"
the Indicator
lights show the battery charge level. The battery test is only relevant when a
lead-acid battery is used. Note: When the selector switch is set to "Battery Test"
, the
energiser pulses at slow speed and the fence is live.
