Connecting to Other Computers
PHM/PM User Guide
3-2
Connecting to Other Computers
To connect your monitor to a generic computer running Windows XP,
complete the following steps:
1
Connect a video cable between either the DVI-D Digital Video or 15-
pin Analog Video port and to a compatible port on the computer, see
Figure 3-1. Note that the monitor’s DVI-D port supports either a DVI-
D or DVI-I compatible cable.
2
Connect the touchscreen cable between the USB or Serial port and a
USB or 9-pin serial communication port on the computer.
Starting Up
Once you have connected your monitor to the non-display PowerStation or
to another computer, you are ready to start your system.
However, before connecting power to your unit, make sure that you have
read and understood the electrical and testing specifications described in
Appendix A , Monitor Specifications. Also, make sure that you follow the
guidelines listed below:
•
For permanently connected equipment
,
a readily accessible
disconnect device must be incorporated in the fixed wiring.
•
For pluggable equipment, the socket-outlet must be installed near
the equipment and should be easily accessible.
Important
Proper installation of the monitor for use in European Union
countries requires the use of a harmonized power cord. (The
power cord must be identified with the <HAR> symbol.)
Make sure that the monitor is only connected to the main
supply with a harmonized power cord.
