6.1
GENERAL
The service life of most of the system equipment is directly related to the raw water inlet
conditions. Improper maintenance will also significantly reduce the life expectancy of the
major unit components (such as the membranes, filters, and pumps) as well as the
reliability of the unit. Under normal conditions, and with proper maintenance, a reverse
osmosis membrane (which is the major consumable item) should have an effective service
life somewhere between 3 to 5 years.
