2.2 Description of function
The patient exhales repeatedly into the device against a mov-
able ball, causing a vibration that is transmitted to the lungs.
This vibration loosens the mucus in the lower airways. During
use, the airways are kept open and clearance of the loosened
mucus is improved.
If the PARI O‑PEP is held horizontally, the oscillation frequency
during use is equal to about 15 Hz. This frequency can be
varied by tilting the device upwards (higher frequency) or
