Chapter 1 Introduction
This chapter introduces the 1823 VoIP Gateway. It includes a product overview, a description of the
product’s features and applications, and an explanation of the functions of the front panel LED indicators.
1.1 Product Overview
Standard telephones connect to the RJ11 port (telephone jack) on the back of the gateway, allowing calls
to be routed to anywhere in the world— significantly reducing or eliminating long distance charges. Your
PCs connected to the gateway do not even have to be turned on for you to make calls. The 1823 solves
your entire network and telephony needs in one integrated unit, which reduces space requirements and
the cost of hardware and cabling.
