Dolby Pro Logic, Super Surround, Center Focus and Subwoofer
Level adjusting (

pages 25–27) cannot be used if headphones
are connected (“ERROR” appears on the display).

You may experience a reduction in sound quality when these
sound field systems are used with some sources. If this occurs,
turn the sound field system off.
Dolby Digital and DTS
¡
Dolby Digital and DTS are digital encoding systems used on DVD
to carry surround sound. Both were originally developed for use
in cinemas.
¡
This unit automatically recognizes and decodes these systems.
Play a Dolby Digital or DTS source.
The Dolby Digital or DTS indicator lights.

To down-mix Dolby Digital or DTS (multiple-
channel) signals to 2 channels
Press and hold [–MIX 2CH].
To cancel, press and hold [–MIX 2CH] again.
To check the current setting
Press [FL DISPLAY].
When “D.MIX” flashes on the display
The DVD-Audio Contains multiple-channel signals that cannot be
down-mixed.
You cannot use the “MIX 2ch” setting in the following cases:
When using headphones
When Dolby Pro Logic is on
When Super Surround is on

Dolby Pro Logic
Dolby Pro Logic is a decoding system that was developed to get a
better sense of presence from sources encoded with Dolby
Surround. The feeling of position has been improved by the addition
of a separate center speaker channel.
Software encoded with Dolby Surround can be identified with this
mark (DVD, CD, Video CD, Laser Disc, Video tape).

Speaker level adjustments
If the level of the speakers appears to be different while listening to
a source, adjust the level of the speakers to the same apparent
level.

RSch: Right surround

2 Press [VOLUME, –] or [+] to set the volume level normally
used for enjoying the source.

To stop the test signal, press and hold [–TEST] again.
