Answering system settings
Call screening
While a caller is leaving a message, you can
listen to the call through the handset’s
speaker. To adjust the speaker volume, press

repeatedly. You can answer the call

Number of rings before the unit

You can change the

before the unit answers a call. You can select
2 to 9 rings, or

: The unit’s answering system answers
at the end of the 2nd ring when new
messages have been recorded, or at the end
of the 5th ring when there are no new
messages. If you call your phone from outside
to listen to new messages (page 31), you
know that there are no new messages when
the phone rings for the 3rd time. You can then
hang up without being charged for the call.

For service provider voice mail
subscribers
To receive voice mail and use the answering
system properly, please note the following:

“Voice mail” is a service provided by your
service provider/telephone company . You
will need to first subscribe or activate this
service through your service provider/
telephone company. Contact your service
provider/telephone company on how to
operate this service and how you will be
notified that you have messages on your
voice mail.
To use this service, you will be required to
leave your answering machine off on your
unit.
This will allow the voice mail to receive any
messages.
