Problem
Cause/solution

cannot make a call.

The handset and base unit could not communicate for
some reason, such as interference from other electrical
appliances. Perform the following:
– Move the handset and base unit away from other
electrical appliances.
– Move closer to the base unit.
– Raise the base unit antennas.
Static is heard, sound
cuts in and out.
Interference from other
electrical units.

Move the handset and base unit away from other
electrical appliances.

Turn on the clarity booster feature (page 27).

If your unit is connected to a telephone line with ADSL
service, we recommend connecting a noise filter
between the base unit and the telephone line socket.
Contact your ADSL provider for details.
The handset and base
unit do not ring.

The ringer volume is turned off. Adjust it (page 26, 46).
I cannot make a call.

The base unit or another handset is in use. Try again
later.

Dial lock is turned on. To turn it off, see page 28.

If the above remedies do not solve the problem, set the
