Using the Software
DVD-RAM Driver
After installing DVD-RAM Driver, you can use a DVD-RAM disc.

Installing DVD-RAM Driver

Log on to Windows as an administrator.

Set DVD Drive Utility Disc in the drive.
Windows XP
[Utility Setup tool] screen will appear (allow some time for disc recognition).
When the setup program will not run automatically, input [x:\setuputil.exe]*

in [start] -
[Run] and select [OK].
Windows 2000
At the message, select [OK]. [Utility Setup tool] screen will appear (allow some time for
disc recognition).
When the setup program will not run automatically, input [x:\setuputil.exe]*

in [Start] -
[Run] and select [OK]. At the message, select [OK].

“x” is the drive letter. You can change the letter to suit your preference.

Select [DVD-RAM Software Setup].

Select [Driver and Formatter Setup].

At the welcome screen, select [Next].

The License Agreement screen appears. Carefully read the agreement, then select [Yes].

At [Choose Destination Location] screen, do not change the setting, and select [Next].

At [Select Program Folder] screen, do not change the setting, and select [Next].

At [Start Copying Files] screen, select [Next].

Select [Remove Windows Media components] and select [Next].

Select [Adaptec CD-Burning Plug-in] from the components list, and select [Next].

If the message “Windows Media setup is now ready to uninstall” appears, select [Next].

Select [Finish] and restart the computer.

Select [Start] - [Run], input
[rundll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection C:\winnt*

\inf\roxio.inf,uninstall], and se-
lect [OK].

At [Advanced INF Install] screen, select [OK].

C:\winnt denotes the folder where Windows is installed. A different letter may be input for
the drive instead of C depending on which letters are assigned to which drives for use.
