65 Malfunction of Water Volume Con-
trol Motor Check water fl ow solenoid valve wiring harness for loose or damage
terminals.
Check for proper voltage to water fl ow solenoid.
71 Gas Inlet Solenoid Valve Control
Fault Check gas inlet solenoid valve wiring harness for loose or damage termi-
nals.
Ohm out solenoid valve.
72 Detected False Flame
Flame Sensing Device Fault Ensure fl ame rod is touching fl ame when unit fi res.
Check inside burner chamber for any foreign material blocking fl ame at
fl ame rod.
Check all wiring to fl ame rod for damage.
Check fl ame rod for proper voltage.
Remove fl ame rod and check, clean with steel wool.
Replace fl ame rod.
76 Communication Fault with Remote
Control Check remote control wiring for loose or damaged connections.
Bypass remote control cable by connecting remote control directly to
remote control terminals on PCB. Replace cable if found to be faulty.
79 Fan Motor Current Fault Ensure fan motor will turn freely. (Motor will operate with a small amount
of restriction.)
Check fan motor for proper voltage and for water (condensation) damage.
80 Gas Cut-Off Failure
(Solenoid Valve 1~2 Failure) Ohm out all solenoid valves.
Check voltage of all fl ame rods.
81 Extinction Failure
(Solenoid Valve 1~2 Failure) Ohm out all solenoid valves.
Check voltage of all fl ame rods.
82 PCB data failure.
PCB is not programmed. Program PCB for proper altitude and fuel type circuit board with proper
programming chip.
90 Blocked Flue Fault Clean any blockage in heat exchanger, combustion fan, air inlet, and
exhaust fl ue.
99 Decrease of Fan Motor Ventilation
Amount (Operation Stop) Clean air intake.
Clean vent blockage.
Check any blockage in heat exchanger and fan.

Nothing happens when water is
fl owing through unit. Make sure unit is connected to proper power supply and circuit breakers
are on.
Clean inlet water supply fi lter.
Ensure you have at least the minimum fl ow rate required to fi re unit.
On new installations ensure hot and cold water lines are not crossed.
Check for bleed over. (Close cold water supply valve to water heater. Open
hot water taps at fi xtures. If water fl ows steady from hot water taps, there
is a bleed over in the system.)

(Products before December 2005) Close all hot water taps to reset unit.
