Whatever the setting chosen, when the fire box
door is lifted, the present mechanism will auto-
matically bring the fume valve to the "fully open"
position, thus preventing smoke from escaping
into the room. When the door is closed again, the
valve will automatically return to the previously
set position.
4.6 Adding fuel
During operation, to add fuel, it is necessary to
follow this procedure:
• Slowly open the fire door to avoid creating an
air depression in the fire box which could cause
possible puffs of smoke into the room.
• Refill the fire box with fuel and then close the
fire door.
Do not overheat the product by insert-
ing an excess quantity of fuel.
Introduce fuel when the embers have
formed and the flame has lowered.
The appliance is equipped with a bypass valve
(VDF
®
), which, upon opening, facilitates the
escape of smoke into the flue, minimising puffs
of smoke into the room.

To carry out the operations of cleaning, read
carefully all the instructions in this manual.
Before performing any mainte-
nance operation, take the following
precautions:
a) Make sure that all parts of the appli-
ance are cold.
b) Make sure that the ashes are com-
pletely extinguished.
c) Use personal protective equipment
provided for by Directive 89/391/EEC.
d) Always use appropriate equipment
for maintenance.
5.1 manual glass cleaning
Do not clean the glass while the appli-
ance is operating and do not use abra-
sive sponges.
During the cleaning operations, sup-
port the door with one hand to avoid
excessive stresses to the structure.
Be very careful not to strike the ceram-
ic glass as the material is very brittle.
If the glass tends to become dirty too frequently,
see paragraph "Glass cleaning air adjustment
(MX F versions only)" on page 22.
To clean the glass, proceed as follows:
1) Open the door as described in the paragraph
"Door side opening" on page 21.
2) Clean the glass with a damp cloth or with
paper moistened and dabbed in the ashes
(
Fig. 10).
You can also use detergents suitable for cleaning
kitchen ovens.
