On the Packard Bell website. A link on the Windows desktop allows you to download and install rec-
ommended programs.
Your computer does not feature an optical drive. If you wish to access files or install a program from
an optical disc, you will need additional equipment: you may use either an external USB optical
drive, or a computer with an optical drive and a network connection (i.e. add the optical drive as a
resource that may be used over a network). Please refer to Packard Bell InfoCentre for more infor-
mation.
You may purchase an external USB optical drive from a well-stocked computer or electrical retailer.
Volume Controls
Apart from the volume control on your computer, keyboard, monitor or speakers (depending on your
equipment), you can also adjust the volume and balance of your speakers from Windows.
Adjusting the Volume
To adjust the volume, simply click on the Speaker icon located in the Notification
Area, next to the clock.
If you cannot see the speaker icon:
1. Click on Start > Control Panel > Sounds, Speech, and
Audio Devices.
2. Select Sounds and Audio Devices.
3. Select Place volume icon in the taskbar.
Drag the slider up or down to adjust the volume. Click in the Mute box to mute the volume.
Click again to resume playback.
To access advanced volume control settings, double-click on the Speaker icon located in the
Notification Area to open the
Volume Control
window.
