Preparation
1.
Contact the local authorities and utility companies to localise any supply lines before
the excavation begins. Exercise extreme caution if there are any suspended or buried
supply lines.
2.
Ensure that you are familiar with the operation and correct use of the excavator.
a)
Always wear safety shoes or safe boots.
b)
Always wear safety goggles or eyes protectors and an approved helmet when
using the machine.
c)
Never wear jewellery or lose-fitting clothing, as this can be trapped in the
machine’s moving or rotating parts.
d)
Always use ear defenders when the machine is operating. Long-term exposure
to machine noise can lead to loss of hearing.
3.
Ensure that the excavator is on a flat surface, that may have a max. incline of 10
o
.
Ensure that the machine is blocked safely to avoid any unintended movements. Do not
use the machine close to slopes with soft edges that cannot provide sufficient support.
4.
The excavator must be operated from the operator seat with hands placed near the
levers and with feet flat on the base plate.
5.
Exercise extreme caution when handling fuel, as it is very flammable.
a)
Use approved fuel containers.
b)
Never fill with fuel while the engine is operating or still hot.
c)
Always fill with fuel outdoors. Never indoors.
d)
Ensure that the fuel cap is fitted properly and wipe up any spilled fuel.
Only use the excavator in daylight or with sufficient lighting.
