the pause in the time-delayed automatic transmission).
3.5 Safety Release
(fig. 1, item 4)
In the event of a system malfunction, the safety release lever will disengage the Greifer.
Safety release lever positioned
The Greifer will operate normally with
towards control wheel:
electronic or manual control of the
gripping fingers.
Safety release lever positioned
The drive train will be disengaged to
away from the control wheel:
allow the fingers to move freely.
4 Control Modes
The prosthetist may choose from two different control modes by inserting or removing the 13E189
Coding Plug. To reset the system so that it will recognize the new control mode, remove the bat-
tery, then re-insert it. To change the control mode, tilt the wrist flexion until the coding plug can be
attached or removed using tweezers (fig. 4).
4.1 Coding Plug inserted
(fig. 2, as delivered)
The function is identical to that of the current DMC.
4.2 Coding Plug removed
(fig. 3)
After gripping once with
maximum force
, the EMG signal required to open the Greifer will be
slightly higher. This reduces the risk of the Greifer opening due to unintentional muscle contrac-
tion. Gripping security will be increased.
5 Adjusting the 13E68 (round) or 13E200 (rectangle) Electrodes
The best possible function of the DMC Plus Greifer is achieved through optimal adjustment of the
electrodes. This is easily possible using the 757M10 MyoBoy.
Procedure:
(For detailed information on the procedure, refer to MyoBoy Instructions for Use)
Select the Electric Greifer with DMC/DMC Plus in the MyoSoft program. Adjust each electrode
so that the patient can maintain the corresponding muscle signal for approximately two seconds
at a point slightly above the value HIGH (fig. 5).
Note:
Allow the patient to rest during training to avoid fatigue and potentially incorrect electrode
settings (i.e. excess sensitivity).
Please take care to place the electrodes so that the contact surfaces lie directly on intact skin.
If strong interference by electrical appliances still occurs, please check the positioning of the
electrode and – if need be – reposition them. If the interference cannot be eliminated, please
contact an Otto Bock Service Facility.
6 Battery Management
Use only fully charged batteries to operate the System Electric Greifer with DMC Plus Control.
An intelligent “battery manager” alerts the patient when the voltage is low: The System Electric
Greifer will become slower and the gripping force will decrease. At the same time the battery is
protected against harmful total discharge.
The DMC Plus can be operated with the 757B8 Otto Bock Battery, the X-ChangePack 757B15
