INFORMATION
Increased wear and tear
The orthotic knee joints are intended only for use in combination with free-
motion or foot lifting orthotic ankle joints. Wear occurs more rapidly in
combinations involving orthotic ankle joints with a dorsal stop.
5 Preparing the product for use
INFORMATION
An adjustment aid is included with each pair of orthotic joints so the orthot
ic joints can be aligned parallel to one another. The adjustment aid con
sists of two screws, one parallel alignment tube and, depending on the size
of the orthotic joints, two adapter pieces.
Assembling the lock and perlon cable
The lock is pre-assembled in the orthosis joint upon delivery. The 29PK1* set
is required to replace the lock. Insertion aids are attached to the locks so
that trying them out is easier.
1) Insert the bearing bushings into the upper joint section.
2) Insert the lower joint section into the upper joint section and secure it
with the joint bolt, joint nut with interior thread and cap screw.
3) Insert the lock in size 3 into the lock channel of the joint up to the stop.
4) Check the play of the joint.
INFORMATION: If the joint has play or the lock cannot be inserted
up to the stop, exchange the lock for a different size (1, 2, 4 or 5).
5) Break the chosen lock off the insertion aid.
6) Screw the threaded sleeve onto the perlon cable.
7) Insert the perlon cable with threaded sleeve into the chosen lock.
8) Guide the perlon cable through the compression spring and lock cover.
