CUTTING
THE STEERER TUBE
Never use more than 30mm worth of spacers
between the stem and the frame. Using more
spacers may stress the materials beyond
the use they were designed for and cause
breakages that may lead to accidents and
serious injuries.
Never install headset spacers on top of the
stem. Read the Use Warnings section of this
manual before using the Spirit fork.
01
Install the fork on the bicycle with all the headset spacers
and the stem you intend to use it with. Compress the
assembly and make sure that the fork and all headset
components are seated correctly.
Tighten one of the stem fixing bolts to keep the assembly
in place.
02
Measure the distance between the top of the stem and
the top edge of the fork steerer tube. You can also use a
marker to make a mark on the steerer tube were it meets
the top edge of the stem.
03
Disassemble the stem and the headset and completely
remove the fork from the frame. Add 3 mm towards the
crown of the fork to the measurement you previously
took.
If you marked where the top edge of the stem was on
the steerer tube with a marker, add 3 mm to this mark
towards the crown of the fork.
04
Install the fork steerer tube in a cutting guide and the
guide on a vice, aligning the final cutting mark on the
steerer tube with the cutting guide.
The cut must be 90º against the lenght axis of the steerer
tube. Use a carbon specific saw and take the necessary
safety measures to avoid inhaling the carbon dust from
the cut.

05
Use a fine cut file to clean the cutting area once you have
cut the steerer tube to the desired lenght.
06
Install the fork on the bicycle. Make sure to tighten all
components to the recommended torque settings.
Cutting the fork steerer tube and installing
the fork on the bicycle are jobs that may
require technical skills beyond the scope of
most users.
If you are not qualified to perform these pro-
cesses correctly and safely, take the fork and
your bike to a professional bicycle workshop.
The incorrect installation of the components
may lead to accidents and cause serious in-
juries.
