• Place the Library Online or Offline
Change the state of the library using the remote interface. An offline library will not
perform host operations.
• Move Tape Cartridges with the Remote Interface
The remote interface can move cartridges when you cannot use the host
application.
Import or Export Cartridges Using the Mailslot
Use the mailslot to import or export cartridges without interrupting robot operations.
To load or unload cartridges using the mailslot, carry out the following tasks:
1.
Assign the Mailslot to a Partition (if the library is partitioned),
2.
Open the Mailslot
3.
Import Tape Cartridges or Export Tape Cartridges
4.
Close the Mailslot
5.
Unassign the Mailslot

The mailslot imports and exports cartridges without interfering with robot
operations. It is often referred to as a cartridge access port (CAP) in other
StorageTek libraries.
Assign the Mailslot to a Partition
In a partitioned library, you must assign the mailslot to a partition before exporting or
importing tapes.

Assign the Mailslot Using the Remote Interface
1.
Select Library from the left menu.
2.
From the Mailslot drop-down , select Assign.
3.
Select a partition from the Assign Mailslot to Partition drop-down list.
Assign the Mailslot Using the Local Operator Panel
1.
On the home screen, tap Mailslot.
2.
Tap Assign to a Partition at the bottom of the screen.
3.
Select a partition to assign.
