Import Tape Cartridges
Use the mailslot to import tapes into the library.
1.
If importing into a partitioned library, assign the mailslot to a partition (see
).
2.
. Place the tapes in the mailslot.

Use the host application to move the tapes from the mailslot to the storage slots.
If you cannot use the host application, you may move the tapes with the remote
interface. Then, update the host application database to account for the new
tapes.

In a partitioned library, once you are finished importing tapes, unassign the
mailslot (see

The remote interface can move cartridges when you cannot use the host
application.
Export Tape Cartridges
Use the mailslot to remove tapes from the library.
1.
If exporting from a partitioned library, assign the mailslot to a partition (see
).
2.
Use the host application to move the tapes from the storage slots to the mailslot.
If you cannot use the host application, you can move tapes using the remote
interface. Then, after closing the mailslot update the host application database to
account for the removed tapes.

In a partitioned library, once you are finished exporting tapes, unassign the

The remote interface can move cartridges when you cannot use the host
application.
Open the Mailslot
Open the mailslot to add or remove tapes from the library.
1.
If using a partitioned library, make sure the mailslot is assigned to a partition (see
Assign the Mailslot to a Partition
).
2.
Open the mailslot with the user interface:

If using the remote interface: Select Library in the left menu. From the
Mailslot drop-down
, select Open and then click OK.
