Roller Shutter and Louvre
Item no. 563.031
1. Product description
OPUS BRiDGE Roller Shutter and Louvre is an electronic roller shutter and
louvre flush-mounted switch with local operation and external input. It integrates
with all standard ranges of switches and is operated via two series rockers or
a rocker panel. The functions described below make the OPUS BRiDGE Roller
Shutter and Louvre a smart replacement for conventional mechanical motor
switches.
The integrated EnOcean radio allows control of the OPUS BRiDGE switch
via freely positionable EnOcean wall transmitters. Wireless EnOcean window
contacts and window/door handles in combination with the OPUS BRiDGE
implement lockout protection for a patio or balcony door, whose roller shutters
or louvres are controlled via building automation.
OPUS BRiDGE supports central switching functions and their routing as well
as the integration of wireless smoke alarms and wind alarms. It integrates with
all common smart home systems. If required, a 1-level or 2-level EnOcean
repeater can be activated.
All functions are configured wirelessly via the separately available OPUS ConfigTool.

disconnect the system from the power supply!
1.2 Intended use
OPUS BRiDGE Roller Shutters and Louvres are used for direct control of motor-
driven roller shutters and louvres with end position switch-off and a supply
voltage of 230 V~. Only one motor may be connected and in doing so, observe
the specifications of the motor manufacturer.
OPUS BRiDGE Roller Shutters and Louvres are designed for use in domestic
and similar fixed installations. Prior to installation, check the suitability on the
basis of the technical data and the operating conditions.
Do not use OPUS BRiDGE Roller Shutters and Louvres in connection with life-
supporting equipment or with loads which may cause danger to life or limb of
humans or animals or risk of material damage.
1.3 Warranty
The warranty becomes void if OPUS BRiDGE Roller Shutters and Louvres are
not used as intended, the housing is opened, or the device is tampered with in
any other way.
2. Product informations
OPUS BRiDGE roller shutters and louvres implement the complete control
of a motor-driven roller shutter or louvre with end position switch-off.
If a rocker panel is attached to the OPUS BRiDGE switch, it allows local opera-
tion. If series rockers are plugged on, local operation is performed via the right
series rocker in the delivery state and the left series rocker behaves like the
rocker of a wall transmitter. The assignment of series rocker for local operation
and wall transmitter function can be arbitrarily defined. Taught-in rockers of
wall transmitters act in parallel to the local operation, the switching logic is
identical.
If an assigned rocker is briefly (<2 s) actuated up or down, the roller shutter / louvre
moves up or down exactly as long as the actuation occurs. If the actuation is
longer (>2 s), the roller shutter / louvre moves for the maximum movement time
even after the rocker is released. This is 120 seconds in the as-delivered state
and the rotation time for louvre operation is 2 seconds. Both values can be
measured by the OPUS BRiDGE switch, if required, for example for control by
a Smart Home system, and thus adapted to the individual mechanical condi-
tions of the roller shutter / louvre. The distinction between Roller Shutter and
Louvre operation results from the configured times.
2.1 Lockout protection
OPUS BRiDGE is able to prevent accidental lockout when the balcony or patio
door is open. If a taught-in EnOcean window/door handle signals „Door open“,
closing of the roller shutter / louvre at the corresponding swing / tilt door is pre-
vented. If the taught-in handle signals „Door tilted“ or „Door locked“, the lockout
protection is not active.
In the case of lifting/sliding doors, an EnOcean window/door contact must also
be fitted and taught into the OPUS BRiDGE switch in order to detect a door that
is open and locked against accidental movement. If the contact signals „Door
open“ and the handle signals „Door locked“, the lockout protection is active.
If several window/door handles and window/door contacts have been taught into
the OPUS BRiDGE switch, their signals are linked with a „logical OR“ operation.
If one of the sensors reports „Open“, the lockout protection is active.
2.2 External input
If 230 V~ is applied to the external input, OPUS BRiDGE moves the roller shutter /
louvre upwards for the maximum movement time. This opening is carried
out immediately with the rising edge and independently of any movement in
progress. As a result, the roller shutter / louvre can only be moved down again
when the signal at the external input is no longer present.
Thus, the external input is suitable for raising a louvre in combination with a
wired wind alarm or for centrally controlled opening of the roller shutter / louvre
by a higher-level wired control.
2.3 Behaviour in the event of a power failure
After applying the supply voltage, OPUS BRiDGE assumes that the louvre
or roller shutter are completely open, regardless of their actual position and
therefore, regardless of any mechanical change in position during the power
failure. The actuation of an assigned rocker still allows manual travel without
any restriction.
When controlled via a Smart Home system, the first movement after a power
failure is complete closing with subsequent approach to the desired target
position. This behaviour recalibrates the position and subsequently ensures a
correct position display.
3. Product components and electrical connection
The OPUS BRiDGE Roller Shutter and Louvre consists of a power unit to
be installed in a flush-mounted box and a control unit that is plugged onto the
power unit during installation. In addition to the connection terminals, the two-
pole circuit breaker and the external input, the power unit also contains the
OPUS BRiDGE internal power supply. The control unit contains the complete
control logic and implements local operation via plug-on rocker switches.
The EnOcean radio is also integrated in the control unit, so that the antenna is
located outside the wall and OPUS BRiDGE offers optimum quality of the radio
connections.
The external input allows direct connection of a 230 V signal (ext. in) from a
wind sensor or a fire detector. When the signal is present, the roller shutters or
louvres are opened and closing is not possible as long as the signal is present.
