Setting the spiral drill
Adjust the diameter of the spiral drill using the setting device with the adjusting screw.
Img.4-3:
Adjusting device
Completely insert the clamping chuck into the adjusting device. The abutting surfaces of the
adjusting device and the clamping chuck have to be completely flush.
Completely insert the spiral drill and then tighten the spiral drill by means of the collet chuck
holder.
Using the described procedure the spiral drill is set for relief grinding with regard to its protrud-
ing length and angle.
INFORMATION
For small and short spiral drills, having a diameter of about 2 - 5 mm, which are clamped
in the collet chuck with its spiral, the setting with the adjustment device is difficult.
Therefore keep the small drill with a pair of pliers, but better with your fingers, to get
asense when the drill with its cutting edge contacts the surface of the adjustment device.
Turn only then the collet chuck gently together.
