Talk2:
A more aggressive talk and sports preset than
Talk1
for when a louder and more processed sound is
desired while still maintaining and enhancing intelligibility.

Urban:
Boom, Boom, Boom!! Need we say more!!! When there is a desire for competitive loudness,
supported by deep bass with lots of
muscle, Urban does it well!
10. Please describe the tradeoff between the main clipper and the composite clipper. When would I use one or the
other? When would I use both? If I used both, what would be the amounts of each?
The new Main Clipper in Omnia.6 is quite powerful!! All of the presets operate with a moderate amount of Main
Clipping and the Composite Clipper is defaulted to the
0.0
or
OFF
position. In most cases, you will not need the
Composite Clipper. The Main Clipper employs distortion cancellation to reduce the perceived effects of the clipping
process, whereas the Composite Clipper does not. Instead, the Composite Clipper creates a sort of
sparkle
, and
tightening of the Bass. There can also be an illusion of added stereo, due to the addition of clipping products to the
multiplex spectrum.
When ultimate, moment-to-moment loudness is a must, then adding some composite clipping to your preset will do
the trick. How much? Well, start off with no more than 0.5dB, and work from there. If too much is applied, audible
distortion will result. When using the Composite Clipper, begin with the Main Clipper set to the normal defaulted
operating level.
11. What is clipper silk? How do I adjust it? What difference does it make in the sound of my station?
This is a new feature that debuted in Omnia.6.
Clipper Silk
is an additional distortion-controlling network that you
can adjust. It is designed to further suppress Intermodulation Distortion (IMD) that can be caused by the main
clipping process. This is especially noticeable on voice, string instruments, or sustained vocal passages that have an
underlying bass content present. When the adjustment is set to
0,
then the main clipper emulates the operation of the
clipping system that was used in the original-Omnia processor. As the adjustment is advanced, it increases the
operation of the added distortion reduction network. In some very extreme cases, there may be a slight reduction in
the upper high frequencies due to its operation. But this effect is quite subtle, to say the least.
