When part of the subject area is extremely bright
If a part of the picture frame is extremely bright,
the subject is underexposed under the influence of
a strong light on the table in the case of center-
weighted, averaged metering. In the same picture
taken with the ESP metering, even the expression
of her face is clearly seen.
When the surrounding area is very dark
In center-weighted, averaged light metering, the
subject appears slightly overexposed under the
influence of a dark surrounding. In ESP metering
mode, however, it is correctly exposed. In this
case too, you will get the best results by keeping
the main subject close to the center of the com-
position.
