Preventive Maintenance
Before attempting to perform preventive maintenance on the MV-1/MV-2 and ancillary equipment, thoroughly
review and understand the information presented in the
MV-1/MV-2 User/Service Manual,
and the instruction
manuals for the ancillary equipment.
Preventive Maintenance Safety Measures for the MV-1/MV-2 and Ancillary Equipment:
Personal protective equipment should be worn to guard against reprocessing chemicals and potentially
infectious material when performing preventive maintenance procedures. Wear appropriate equipment, such as:
eye wear, face mask, moisture-resistant clothing, and chemical-resistant gloves that fit properly and are long
enough so that skin is not exposed.
Factory supplied replacement parts and filters must be used to assure proper operation and efficiency of the
MV-1/MV-2.
Do not use gauze, cotton swabs, or other lint-producing cleaning aids on the MV-1/MV-2. These materials shed
fibers that can become caught in the channels of endoscopes, or in the components of the MV-1/MV-2.
Do not use products that contain alcohol when cleaning the lid of the MV-1/MV-2. Alcohol may cause crazing of
the acrylic windows.
After discarding used disinfectant, remove the cover of the LCG reservoir. Rinse and wipe the cover, basin, and
reservoir with a clean cloth. Do not use paper towels as they may generate particulate matter that could
interfere with the function of the MV-1/MV-2.
Do not open the MV-1/MV-2 lid during operation.
Never operate the MV-1/MV-2 without the drain screen in place. Debris might be recycled into the LCG and /or
clog the endoscope channels.
Do not use high-level disinfectant neutralizing agents in the MV-1/MV-2. If disinfectant neutralization is required
at the facility, the high-level disinfectant must be transferred to an alternate container. Neutralizing agents will
adversely affect the performance of the MV-1/MV-2.
All disinfectants must be monitored for effectiveness a minimum of once a day.
Strictly follow the disinfectant manufacturer’s labeling, or the disinfectant reuse life could be significantly
affected. Do not use disinfectants beyond the time period specified on the manufacturer’s label (e.g., do not use
a 14-day disinfectant beyond 14 days, even if potency test results are favorable). Disinfectants may lose
effectiveness before the end of the reuse life.
