Inserting the batteries
This recorder can be used with either AAA Ni-MH
rechargeable batteries or AAA alkaline batteries. Do
not use any other type of battery.

Lightly press down on the battery cover
release button, then open the battery
cover, as shown in the illustration below.

Insert two AAA batteries observing the
correct polarity, then close the battery
cover.
• Insert the batteries in the direction marked
inside the battery compartment. When
inserting the batteries, note that the battery
removal tape is under the batteries as shown
in the illustration.
• The supplied Ni-MH rechargeable batteries are
not fully charged. It is recommended to fully
charge them before using the recorder for the
first time or after the batteries have been left
unattended for a long time (

P.13).
Battery indicator
The battery indicator on the display will decrease as
the battery loses power.

Selecting battery type
When the recorder is turned on after inserting
or replacing the batteries, the battery type
selection screen is displayed. On this screen,
select [
Ni-MH
] or [
Alkaline
] according to the
type of batteries used. The voltage detection
method optimized for the selected battery
type is set.
• When [
] indicator appears on the display,
charge or replace the batteries as soon as
possible. When the battery is too weak, [
] and
[
Battery Low
] will appear on the display and the
recorder will shut down.
Replacing the batteries

Lightly press down on the battery cover
release button, then open the battery
cover.

Pull up the removal tape to remove old
batteries.
• When pulling up the tape, the batteries may
suddenly pop out. Be sure to press down lightly
on the batteries with your finger while pulling up
the tape.

Insert new batteries.
