1.1.1 Use of Equipment in Accordance with the
Designated Purpose
The gear pump is primarily used for conveying and metering
of polymer melts.
Please operate the pump only for the intended purpose and
within the limits delineated in the data sheet (see informa­
tion in Chapter 8.1.1).
Only use the pump and heating plates when in technically
perfect condition and for its intended purpose while being
aware of the hazards and safety instructions stated in these
Operating Instructions. Malfunctions affecting safety must
always be eliminated immediately.
For safety reasons, use beyond these limits or for different
purposes is not permitted and would increase a potential
risk for the operating personnel.
1.1.2 Obligation to Provide Training and Instruction
As an employer, it is your responsibility to train the operat­
ing personnel and inform them of existing legislation and
accident prevention regulations (according to relevant na­
tional regulations of the country of operation) as of well as
of your Operating Instructions. You must make sure that
these Operating Instructions are understood and adhered to
by your personnel. This applies especially to

operating guidelines
∙
maintenance guidelines
Please check at regular intervals whether your personnel
are safety‐conscious and aware of potential dangers when
operating the equipment and whether they are observing
your Operating Instructions.

Please conduct regular training sessions for your operat­
ing personnel on the basis of established programs.
∙
Ensure safe resumption of activities after vacations and
other work interruptions by offering refresher training and
instruction.
Operating the line requires practice.
∙
Keep documentary evidence on the content of the train­
ing program.
∙
Have the participants confirm that they have fully under­
stood the traning scheme.
∙
Keep these documents on file.
