6 Programming Menu
6.1 Menu Items
The following table gives a brief description of what function do items under Programming
mode have.
Menu Item Options Description
Constant Beam
Mode
By Filament Automatically adjusts filament current to
maintain constant value of beam current.
By Wehnelt Automatically adjusts Wehnelt voltage to
maintain constant value of beam current.
Setting Sets a rate at which constant beam current is
maintained (feedback parameter).
Grid LEED Mode Proportional Sets grid voltage to be proportional to beam
energy.
Constant Gap Sets grid voltage to maintain a constant dis-
tance (voltage gap) from beam energy.
Beam Energy Scan
Mode
Continuous Sets beam energy to be continuously
scanned.
Step Sets beam energy to be changed stepwise by
specified voltage (Delta U) and at specified
time interval (Delta t).
PC Control Mode Full The following functions of the power supply
are fully controlled by a PC: beam energy,
filament current and Wehnelt, focus, grid
(LEED only), and screen voltages. In addi-
tion, emission and beam current are moni-
tored.
External Only beam energy is controlled by a PC, oth-
er parameters are controlled via the front
panel.

Max Beam Energy Sets the maximum allowable beam energy.
