How to Manage the Media Vacuum
The Table Vacuum System
Introduction
Your printer uses a low-flow, high-pressure vacuum system to secure media for printing on the
printer table. A vacuum pump is used to evacuate the air between the overlay and the table. Air-
feed ports in the table surface connect to the vacuum pump through a series of manually
operated flow valves. These valves are used to activate or shut down the vacuum zones. In order
for the system to work effectively, during printing all the circular holes on the top surface of the
overlay sheet connected to an active vacuum zone must be covered. This creates a closed
vacuum system.
The printer is shipped from the factory configured with six vacuum zones. Zone 1 is always on
and zones 2 to 6 can be open or closed, based on the position of the zone control handles. The
printer is ordered with your choice of vacuum zone configurations, either Metric or Imperial units.
These zones are set up to support common media sizes.
