4.
Unpackage your HDD.
5.
Connect a SATA cable and one of the HDD power cables to the HDD as shown in the picture below on the left.
6.
Place the HDD in the chassis as shown below, sliding the HDD SATA + power connector onto the PC board SATA + power connector.
7.
Holding the HDD in place, turn over the NVR with the HDD, and then use four (4) screws to attach the HDD to the chassis.
•
48 Vdc Power adapter for an N4, N8 or N16 NVR, or a power cord for N32 NVR
•
Remote control
Remove the equipment from its packaging and place it on a flat, clean surface. Inspect each item. If any visible damage is present, contact
your supplier for a replacement. Verify that your order is complete.
What you need
Although each security system installation is different, most require the following items not included with your system components:
•
Cameras and cables compatible with the NVR. The
LAN1 .. LAN16
connectors on the back panel support many types of IP cameras. See
the
Specifications
section of this guide for more information.
•
IP cameras installed on the Ethernet network (LAN) associated with the NVR must be compatible. Check the
Specifications
section of
this guide for more information.
•
Tools to install the cameras and route power and cables
•
VGA or HDMI compatible computer monitor to connect to the NVR.
•
Un-interuptable power supply (UPS) is recommended. This UPS is used to ensure system stability during voltage surges, sags, and
outages. If a UPS is not available, a power strip with strong surge protection is highly recommended.
Step 2. HDD installation
Skip this step if your NVR was purchased with an HDD and you do not need to change the HDD hardware in your recorder.
Use this step if you need to install or replace an HDD in your NVR. Your recorder must have an HDD to record data locally. N4, N8 and N16
NVRs accommodate 1 HDD, up to 8 TB. N32 NVRs can accommodate up to 4 HDDs, up to 8TB each. For lasting performance and reliability,
install only security grade HDDs in your NVR.
Two HDD installation procedures are included here: one for the N4, N8 and N16 NVRs, and one for the N32 NVR.
N4, N8, N16 HDD installation
The chassis is designed to accommodate one 3.5 inch or 2.5 inch HDD, with an HDD capacity up to 8 TB. Additionally, the HDD should be
formatted using the NVR’s embedded firmware before use. The example shown here is for an N8 NVR.
To install a 3.5 inch HDD:
1.
Disconnect all cables attached to the NVR.
2.
Lay the NVR on a clean, flat table, and then remove the five cover screws. Three cover screws are on the backpanel (see below), and
one cover screw is on each side of the chassis.
Cover Screw (3)
3.
Slide the cover toward the back, then lift it away from the NVR chassis.
