OMC-045-II SD card format

12.5.2 Nortek

AWAC

For the Nortek AWAC, you need extra hardware.

The AWAC is connected to the data logger with a baud rate converter. The baud rate converter is
configured to receive data from the AWAC on 9600 baud. It communicates with the data logger at 1200
baud. The data logger uses two serial inputs to receive both the Current and Wave data. If the Sensor
data must be processed as well an third serial input must be used. Each serial input is configured to
trigger on a different start character.

Start Character

Information sentence

W Wave

C Current

S Sensor

On “Port X” read W message
On “Port Y” read C message

X and Y are one of the Ports 1 to 4.

Port X
Start char ‘W’
Sperator ‘,’
Decaimal point ‘.’
End char ‘\R’
Min String lengte 15

Smallog aan type D record.

Port Y
Start char ‘C’
Sperator ‘,’
Decaimal point ‘.’
End char ‘\R’
Min String lengte 15

Smallog aan type D record.

C message contains
Low number, direction, speed

W message contains
H3, Dir Mean, Tm02

Sampling interval

W massage has an interval every 4 hours

interval in sensor every 2 hours

C massage has an interval every 20 min

interval in sensor every 10 min

This is to make sure that there aren’t too many timeout problems, when the sensor is not running
synchronized with the OMC-045-II

Don’t tag the data in the tag list, to be logged. This is because it already does it through Smallog.
Because there are 20 cells configured, Smallog reads and process every 10 min 20 C Lines.
