OMC-045-II
6.9 Power supply, power connections, backup power, power consumption
The OMC-045-II is supplied with a power supply voltage of 8-30V OR 3.6V (only rain gauge)
6.9.1 Connection of 8 – 30 V power
Connect a voltage between 8 and 30 Volt.
Some ripple is allowed. E.g. 12V battery with online charger
Beware of 24V battery with an online charger, as peaks might exceed 30V with some chargers
If you connect the power to X2.1 and X2.2 the wrong way, the fuse will blow
Internal electronics might be damaged.
6.9.2 Connection of 3.6V power
The OMC-045-II-rain is always supplied complete with battery holder
Observe polarity when mounting the battery.
The OMC-045-II is running as soon as the battery is placed.
If the battery is placed the wrong way around, the OMC-45-II must be returned to Obsermet as the on
board SMD fuse F2 will blow and can only be replaced by a service engineer.
Changing the power supply voltage is done at the service department of Observator Instruments.
Warning:
There is no overvoltage protection on the 3,6 Volt power circuit. Voltages above
3,6 Volt will damage the data logger beyond repair possibilities.
6.9.3 Internal RTC backup battery
The OMC-045-II contains an internal battery to keep the internal real-time-clock running. The lifetime of
the battery is at least 10-20 years, so this battery requires no exchange during the lifetime of the OMC-
045-II. The battery is a Li/MNO2 coin cell (which does not contain toxic substances) and is soldered to the
printed circuit board.
