TROUBLESHOOTING 

The chart below identifies some of the main issues you may encountered with your sand filter. 
This should assist with the majority of problems. OASIS highly recommends regular checks and 
maintenance of your swimming pool equipment by a qualified pool professional.  
This will extend the life of your equipment and give you the best performance.

Sand Entering the Pool

 

 

Sand too small and getting through Laterals 

 

Flow rate on Pump is too high and pushing sand 

through Laterals 

 

Sand Bed Calcified due to poor water chemistry 

 

Broken Lateral 

 

Loose Centre-Pipe 

 

Too much Sand in Tank 

 

Multiport Control Valve not correctly in Filter position 

 

Too much Air in Filter 

 

 

Sand coming out of Waste Line 

 

Flow rate on Pump is too high and lifting Sand too high 

on Backwash 

 

 

Pool Water is Cloudy due to poor 
Filtering 

 

Sand Bed is dirty and requires Backwashing 

 

Incorrect Sand has been installed 

 

Sand Bed is too low 

 

Algae build-up in Filter due to poor water chemistry
