Put the clamp on and tighten the screw on it first before you screw the new lamp in. 

 
7)  On those models equipped with a hinged primary mirror, return the mirror to 
the normal location and secure with thumb screws. 
 
8)  Replace the large door of the lamp housing and tightened the screw that 
secures the door. 
 
The lamp’s positioning should be adjusted to achieve maximum output.  This is 
referred to as “peaking” a lamp. See adjusting the lamp position.
