To Tighten the Tube Ends
1. Take the loose end of the yarn and pull tight until it closes the opening at the end of the
  tube (See diagram A).
2. Thread the plastic needle through the loose end and tie a double knot
  (See diagram B, C and D).
3. To close the opening at the beginning of your tube, thread the needle onto the loose piece
of yarn, and repeat steps 1 and 2.

1. Move the button on the front of the machine into
  the Up position.
2. Turn the hand crank counter-clockwise until it
  stops.
3. Now, thread the machine in the same way as if
your were making a tube, turning clockwise and
threading onto every other hook.  The hand crank
will stop once fully turned (See diagram A).
4. Put the handle back on top of the machine.  Now
turn counter-clockwise until the machine stops.
Keep doing this back and forth motion until you
reach your desired length.  Finish up a complete
counter-clockwise row and stop turning the hand
  crank.
5. Periodically pull down gently on the knitted fabric
as it comes out of the bottom, to prevent it from
  snagging.
