Doing an Air Shot
The PenFill cartridge may
contain an air bubble, and small
amounts of air may collect in
the needle and PenFill cartridge
when you use them. To avoid
injecting air and to ensure
proper dosing, you must
perform an air shot before
each injection.
Before doing the air shot,
the dose indicator window
must show zero (0).
If you use a suspension
insulin, such as Novolin N or
Novolin 70/30 and have used
the PenFill cartridge for
previous injections, make sure
there is enough insulin left in
the PenFill cartridge to properly
mix the insulin (see page 11).
