NOTE:
If you are setting up a multi-server Synchronizer system, you should have a Summary Sheet
for each Synchronizer server. Each Synchronizer server is independent of other Synchronizer
servers, so you can set them up in whatever order is convenient given the overall configuration of
your Synchronizer system.
The following sections step you through the process of installing the Mobility Pack and configuring
a Synchronizer server.

2.2.1 Performing Pre-Installation Tasks

Make sure that the Linux server where you plan to install the Data Synchronizer Mobility Pack
meets the system requirements listed in
Section 1.2, “Data Synchronizer System
Requirements,” on page 12
.

Make sure that the Synchronizer server has a static IP address.

Make sure that any firewalls between the Synchronizer server and other applications have been
configured to allow communication on the following ports:

In a terminal window, become
root
by entering
su -
and the root password.

(Conditional) If necessary, stop and disable any existing Web server that is currently running
on the Synchronizer server.
For example, to stop the Apache Web server and its associated instance of Tomcat:

Enter the following commands to stop Apache and Tomcat:
/etc/init.d/tomcat5 stop
