Remove Thermostats

removing completely. DO NOT drain coolant
until it has reached ambient temperature.
1. Visually inspect area around thermostat housing and
cover for leaks.
2. Remove coolant tank pressure cap and partially drain
coolant system.
3. Remove cap screws (A), nut (B) and washer (C)
attaching coolant cover (D) with sealing O-ring (E) to
the thermostat housing (G) and exhaust manifold.
4. Remove cap screws (F) attaching thermostat housing
to the exhaust manifold.
5. Remove thermostat housing with gasket (I). Remove
and disgard all gasket material. Clean all sealing
surfaces.
6. Inspect and test thermostats for proper opening
temperature.
7. Install thermostats with a new gasket and pilot housing
on stud (J). Install thermostat housing cap screws

8. Inspect thermostat cover sealing O-ring and replace
if necessary. Install thermostat cover with O-ring,
cap screws, washer and nut. Tighten nut and all cap
screws to 35 N·m (25 lb.-ft.)
