Servicing Battery
CAUTION: Battery gas can explode. Keep sparks
to check battery electrolyte level.
Never check battery charge by placing
a metal object across the posts. Use a
voltmeter or hydrometer.
Always remove grounded NEGATIVE (–) battery
WARNING:
Battery posts, terminals, and related
accessories contain lead and lead compounds, chemicals
known to the State of California to cause cancer and
reproductive harm.
Wash hands after handling.
1. On regular batteries, check electrolyte level. Fill each

of 1 part baking soda and 4 parts water. Tighten all
connections securely.
NOTE: Coat battery terminals and connectors
with a mixture of petroleum jelly and baking
soda to retard corrosion.
3. Keep battery fully charged, especially during cold
weather. If a battery charger is used, turn charger
off before connecting charger to battery(ies). Attach
POSITIVE (+) battery charger lead to POSITIVE (+)
battery post. Then attach NEGATIVE (–) battery
charger lead to a good ground.
