Recharge and
maintain battery
Inspect, recharge, and maintain battery according to your battery
manufacturer's instructions.
Do not store with battery charger always connected. Batteries that are over-
charged can boil themselves dry and produce excessive amounts of
hydrogen, an explosive gas.
Perform engine
maintenance
Perform engine maintenance as specified in the engine owner's manual.
Engine maintenance items include:
1.
Changing oil and oil filter
2.
Air filter check/replacement
3.
Spark plug cleaning and replacement
4.
Fuel filter check/replacement
5.
Inspecting and cleaning muffler (and spark arrestor if equipped)
Change pump oil
Change the pump oil
after the first 40 hours of use, and then after every 3
months or 500 hours of use after that.
1.
Remove drain plug from pump.
2.
Drain pump oil into suitable container and dispose of responsibly.
3.
Reinstall oil drain plug.
4.
Make sure unit is sitting level.
5.
Fill pump to the middle of sight glass (or at the indicator line on the dip
stick if equipped).
a.
For AR pumps: Use 15 oz. of SAE 30 Non-Detergent Oil.
b.
For Comet pumps: Use 37 oz. of Universal Tractor Transmission
Oil, Mobil 1 Synthetic 15W-50 oil or TWS 5050S.
6.
Replace oil fill cap.
Drive belt
maintenance
Check drive belt tension after first 24 hours of running and then
routinely with each oil change.
Tighten or replace belts as needed
.
Always tighten belts if slipping.
WARNING:
Belt slippage can cause static electricity build-up, which may result
in sparking. Fire ignition can result.
