BCM50a Integrated Router Configuration — Advanced
•
You disable Telnet service in menu 24.11.
•
You apply a filter in menu 3.1 (LAN) or in menu 11.1.4 (WAN) to block
Telnet service.
•
The IP address in the
Secured Client IP
field in menu 24.11 does not match
the client IP. If it does not match, the BCM50a Integrated Router disconnects
the Telnet session immediately.
Backup configuration using TFTP
The BCM50a Integrated Router supports the uploading and downloading of the
firmware and the configuration file using TFTP (Trivial File Transfer Protocol)
over LAN. Nortel does not recommend using TFTP over WAN, although it can
work.
To use TFTP, your computer must have both Telnet and TFTP clients. To back up
the configuration file, follow the procedure shown next.
1
Use Telnet from your computer to connect to the BCM50a Integrated Router
and log on. Because TFTP does not have any security checks, the BCM50a
Integrated Router records the IP address of the Telnet client and accepts TFTP
requests only from this address.
2
Put the SMT in command interpreter (CI) mode by entering 8 in
Menu 24 –
System Maintenance
.
3
Enter command “sys stdio 0” to disable the SMT timeout, so the TFTP
transfer is not interrupted. Enter command “sys stdio 5” to restore the
five-minute SMT timeout (default) after the file transfer is complete.
4
Launch the TFTP client on your computer and connect to the BCM50a
Integrated Router. Set the transfer mode to binary before starting data
transfer.
