Chapter 3 Replacing the disk drives

Use the

Set_console slot# mini slot#

CLI command

(for example:

Set_console 3 1

From the SDM console, enter

/boot/halt

Repeat Step 2 for each disk drive for the following:

• SDM FW2 or FW4

• TPS4

• FW1-TPS1 or FW2-TPS2

Remove the installed 8660 SDM.

Place the 8660 SDM

on an antistatic bag or set it on an antistatic mat.

Remove the damaged disk drive (see

“Removing a disk drive” on page 45

Install the replacement disk drive (see

“Installing a disk drive” on page 47

Estimated time to replace a disk drive

The estimated time to remove a disk drive is fifteen minutes.

The estimated time to install a disk drive is fifteen minutes.

Required tools

You require the following tools to replace a disk drive: Phillips #0 or #1
screwdriver.
