Connect the Power Cable
Before connecting the power cables, be sure the scanner is off. Attach the female end of the
power cable to the AC connector on the rear of the scanner and insert the male end into a
general-purpose (AC 100–240 V, 50/60 Hz) household outlet.

Important
If you are using a computer with a 4-pin DV connector (such as SONY VAIO laptop computers),
you will need to purchase a 6-pin–4-pin cable or 6-pin–4-pin adapter.

Connecting the Interface Cable
After confirming that the scanner is off, connect one end of the supplied 6-pin–6-pin IEEE
1394 cable to the scanner, the other to the computer.
Connect the cable as shown. Attempting to insert the connector in another orientation could not
only damage the connector, but also damage the scanner or computer or interfere with their
correct functioning.
Connecting the Scanner
The first time the scanner is connected to a Windows computer, the Device Manager will install
the device drivers needed to “register” the scanner with the system (more information on
device registration is available on page 27 of this manual).
