Once you have finished scanning, exit Nikon Scan by selecting
Exit
(Windows) or
Quit
(Macintosh)
from the
File
menu (if you are using Nikon Scan as a TWAIN source or acquire plug-in for another
application, close the scan window by clicking the close box) and follow the steps below to turn the
scanner off.
1. Remove the film from the scanner (see Step 12-15).
2. Wait until the status LED glows steadily and then remove the adapter from the scanner.
3. Close the sliding cover.
4. After checking that the status LED is glowing steadily, press the power switch to turn the scanner off.
When using the 4000 ED with a computer running Win-
dows 98 SE or Windows Me, before turning the scanner off
you will need to remove the scanner from the system. Click
the “Unplug or Eject Hardware” icon in the task bar with the left mouse button and select
Stop Nikon
SUPER COOLSCAN 4000 ED
from the menu that appears. When the message, “The ‘Nikon LS-
4000 ED’ device can now be safely removed from the system” appears, click
OK
and turn the scanner
off. The computer will automatically recognize the scanner the next time the scanner is turned on.
If you fail to remove the scanner from the system before disconnecting the device or turning it off, the
error message shown below will be displayed. Click
OK
to clear the message from the screen.
