1. DESCRIPTION
The 16-670 and 16-672 are electronic video distributors (video splitters) and are part of the range Access Control Standard. Via these appliances, the
color image of 1 camera can be displayed on several internal units. The video splitter is connected to the mains (230V) and powers the system via the UTP
cabling (CAT.5E).
The video splitter is available in 2 designs. With type 16-670, you can max. connect 3 internal units to 1 external unit. With type 16-672, you can max.
connect 8 internal units to 1 external unit.
2. INSTALLATION
Choice of the cabling
Niko recommends the following cables:
- interior cable:
- UTP cat. 5E (max. 100m)
- exterior cable / underground cable:
- UTP cat. 5E OUTDOOR
- ATCUG (armoured telephone cable): 4 x 2 x 0.8mm (This cable is less practical in use, but does guarantee covering longer distances thanks to the
larger wire section). In order to simplify installation, a transition piece from UTP to screw connection is available (16-679-01).

Installation splitter(s)
- The video splitter is suitable for installation in a 19”-rack, but can also be installed as a freestanding appliance on a horizontal base thanks to the rubber
legs.
- Preferably place the video splitter in the immediate vicinity of the telephone exchange to simplify wiring. Connect the 16-651 (electronic control unit) to
the far left RJ45 connector.
- If you wish to connect over 8 internal units, you can connect a second splitter (fig. 1). In this case, interconnect 1 output to the input of the second splitter,
so 15 outputs are available. Do NOT interconnect the power supply!
Do NOT interconnect the power supply pair.
