1. dESCRIPtIoN
This external unit from the Niko’s access control product range is suitable for door
intercom systems. The external audio unit is a surface-mounting unit with a surface-
mounting height of 20 mm.
Depending on the model ordered, the external audio unit has 4 to 12 bell push buttons
arranged in two columns. All models are described in chapter 6. The external audio unit
is equipped with an adjustable microphone and loudspeaker. All data are saved in a
removable EEPROM memory.
It is also equipped with a vandalproof nameplate which can be personalised. This nameplate
is permanently lit by an LED.
It is possible to extend the external audio unit with one or more modules with 12 to 20
bell push buttons arranged in two columns. These extension modules are described in
chapter 6. The external audio unit must be used in combination with internal units and a
power supply. For basic systems, a two-wire connection is sufficient.
2. MoUNtING aNd CoNNECtIoN
Check whether the following components are present:
• surface-mounting external audio unit with the correct number of bell push buttons;
• socket head wrench for opening the external audio unit;
• a sufficient number of blank name cards for personalisation.
Which cables are required?
Niko recommends the use of the following
cables
for installation of the external audio unit:
• diameter 0.8 mm (SVV, JYSTY, TVVF …): max. distance 250 m
• diameter 0.6 mm (TPVF …): max. distance 150 m
• diameter 0.5 mm (UTP, FTP, STP …): max. distance 100 m
Mounting
To mount the external audio unit, first remove the nameplate at the front of the external
audio unit (fig. 1):
1. Half unscrew the two screws at the bottom of the external audio unit using the socket
head wrench provided.
2. Remove the cover by shoving it out from under the unit.
3. Slide the nameplate down, so the connection terminals become visible (fig. 2).
