Configuring the ARP Table
ARP (Address Resolution Protocol) is a protocol designed to acquire
information on the mapping between an IP address and a physical MAC
address. The internal cache of the router contains the ARP table for mapping
between the IP addresses and MAC addresses, this ARP table is dynamically
configured and updated with broadcast packets. The “arp” command is
available to set up fixed mapping information for the IP and MAC addresses.
